THE AUTHOR

After a successful career as a folk musician with the Savanna Trio in the sixties, Björn started work as a designer with the RÚV national TV station when it was founded in 1966. Since then he has designed sets and costumes for theatre, TV and films, both in Iceland and abroad. Björn has made 70 TV programmes on historic buildings, sites and cultural heritage, and he possesses a wide knowledge of Iceland's visual cultural heritage.

For the past 20 years much of Björn's time has been devoted to designing exhibitions for museums and visitor centres around Iceland, and providing appropriate pictorial material. In these beautiful illustrated volumes he introduces us to the diverse visual heritage of Iceland, which perhaps goes unnoticed by many.
